What to do when it rains

How do you embrace the moment when it rains? Whether precipitation is falling from the sky or you find yourself with more work than you know what to do with or if it's raining men in your life. I guess one common response is to run around in a panic, although where does that get you except running around in circles? One might get angry that it's raining right now because it's the last thing you need in your life and all that gets you is resistance to what is happening. One could plan ahead for the rain and spend money on umbrellas, boots, rain coats to shield to protect themselves from it.
What would happen if we walked out unprepared for the rain and just embraced it? I've always loved the quote, "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, but learning how to dance in the rain."
Sometimes I feel like I'm too obsessed with preparing myself for something that I don't enjoy the moments that lead up to it. How do we stay in the present moment in the middle of chaos? How do we embrace uncertainty and "not knowing" and just go with it?
I received the following from a friend of mine when I was in the midst of chaos:
Are you holding on to the river banks or embracing the current?
